Merry Christmas...

Just wanted to take a minute to say a quick "Merry Christmas!". Things have been soooo crazy around the Monk house. We've been remodeling (Rodney's about to kill me!), and then the girls have been going in every direction. If it's not a recital or play then it's Allie's basketball games. Which by the way, she made her first goal last night! You go girl! But we did want to say how much our family means to us, if even in our rush if we don't say it. We truly hope you have a great Christmas and many many blessings... And who knows it just might snow again!

It's been a while since I've "posted". We have been very busy people... The girls have since started school, Allie in the 8th grade and Mallory in the 4th. Allie has been busy with band practice in the mornings and volleyball practice every evening. Mallory has been taking piano lessons and twirling lessons. Along with all of this, we've been getting ready for the fair!!
Over all, everything is going really well... Oh and I forgot to mention "IKE". CRAZY is the atmosphere in the Monk household...
Allie did really well showing her pig "Butterbean". She looked like a pro! She didn't make the sale, but she did really well. She did sell her pig under the barn for $250. Mallory didn't get to show her pig "Daisy". For some reason, the stupid pig wouldn't grow. At the time of the fair, Daisy weighed in at around 100 pounds. NOT the ideal weight for a show hog! Anyone want a pet?
Mallory did extremely well in the baking division of the fair. She was awarded Reserve Grand Champion in both the cookie division and pie division. She won $100.
You go Girls! We are extremely proud of them AND extremely glad it's over!
Now we are focusing on band and volleyball now. I can't believe my baby is marching in the High School Band! How crazy is that! She is doing really well.
That's a lot to take in so, I keep ya'll updated...
Talk to you soon!

Granny

She doesn't look like a "Granny" here, does she? For those of you who don't know, this is my dad's mother, Frances. She is such a beautiful girl in this picture. You can't see it very well, but she is wearing a small golden locket that was given to her by my great-grandmother (my grandfather's mother) before she married my grandfather. I can't remember how old she said she was, but I think she said she was 15. Wow! I can't get over how straight her teeth are! Anyway, this is an old photo of her that for some reason she keeps hidden in the many photo albums she possesses. The photo was actually marred during a fire. But fire or not, you can't mess this up.

This is what happens when Rodney and I left the girls alone to play. Allicyn talked Mallory into playing "spa" (can you see the guilty look on Allie's face?). Mallory was the customer and opted to have the crunchy peanut butter facial! Allicyn couldn't understand why I didn't approve... Go figure. I guess I'm a stick in the mud or peanut butter!
